See Tyler Grow

Saturday was Picnic Day. The anticipation was brutal for Tyler. First of all, I informed him we were going to see Mack and Owen. "At Mack's house?" he would ask. Then I informed him we were going to Davis. "I am Davis," he would say. So I would briefly explain to him that he is Davis because when Mommy and Daddy were younger we met in Davis. Then I tried to conclude the concept by saying it was Picnic Day at UC Davis. "We're going to picnic at Mack's house?" This went around and around for two days. Sometimes he'd get so hung up on it and ask so many questions, we'd go a little crazy. Daddy got the bright idea to change the subject by informing Tyler that the Wiggles are coming on Tuesday. "Today?" he would ask. "Are the Wiggles coming to dinner today?" Wow anticipation is brutal. Whoever gave the advice to just inform the child right before an event was correct. But Tyler's so inquisitive he really wants to know.

Picnic Day was awesome and, weather permitting, we'll go every year from now on. Tyler and Mack did a fantastic job of holding hands and walking all over campus while Valerie and I pushed our double strollers through our Alma Mater. Back in the old college days we never would have thought we'd be where we are now. But here we are; moms of two boys, married to great men, and about to be living in the same town. It all reminded me that life is good!

Tyler loved the arts and crafts and checking out the fire trucks. He wasn't at all scared of the big costumed dalmation dog or of Spiderman in costume which tells me his fear of big giant things like Santa are a thing of the past. He even got to jump in the bouncy house and promptly obeyed when his time was up. What a great behaving little dude he was!
