I have now lost my first tooth

This morning Tyler had a dentist appointment. Two more fillings complete, four remaining fillings to have done still. He was just there two weeks ago for his first fillings and everyone made a big deal about how loose his tooth was then. Well when I checked his teeth just before getting out of the car, I declared that today just might be the day his tooth falls out. I was right! I fed him celery all day (we were out of apples) and he obliged willingly. That's gotta be the best trick in the book for getting them to eat veggies. Anyway, we went out for burgers that night. I told Tyler to make sure to chew using his front teeth. This was a strange eating day since he was numb from the novacaine the first half of the day and had to eat carefully as it wore off. Every few bites, we would check to see if his tooth was still there. Then, as we were driving home a tiny voice from the backseat declared "I have now lost my first tooth," to which I parked the car, Shawn jumped out, Tyler was literally squealing with delight, and Gavin was just kind of soaking in all the excitement. Now he likes to look in the mirror. He tells everyone he can about it. He is pointing out a lot of firsts. "My first shower with a lost tooth," and "My first rainy day with a lost tooth." So exciting. He called Papa Curt who asked if he could whistle now, so he's fascinated with trying. And when he called Gramma she asked if the one next to it is loose, so now he can't wait for that one to come out. I went to the store to buy more apples at his request. The Tooth Fairy came, gave him a bunch of shiny money, which he promptly deposited in his piggy bank without being told to. I was so proud. Then, just like a jealous brother, Gavin took his piggy bank and emptied it when nobody was looking.
