Everyone wants to know how Tyler is handling the arrival of his new baby brother. Baby is his favorite word these days. He says it as soon as he walks in the front door from daycare, as soon as he wakes up each morning, and about 100 times in between the day. He has gone from swinging his arm to affectionately pat (more like whack) Gavin on the head, to slowly and gently reaching out just to touch his hair with his fingertips. When he hears Gavin cry, Tyler isn't quite sure what to do. Sometimes he cries too, because he's confused. So we frequently find ourselves holding the baby while consoling Tyler, but luckily Gavin doesn't cry too much. We haven't seen any actions that scream jealousy, but Tyler has displayed some regression by putting binkies in his mouth, and he has been more cuddly than usual, which I'm perfectly fine with because nothing compares to a bear hug from Tyler.
As he drifts off to sleep at night, Tyler tosses, turns, talks and babbles. Last week while tossing and turning, he began making every animal sound he knows. It was so hard to keep my laughter quiet as he rolled around his bed saying woof nay oink moooo roar baaah in a run-on sentence. Last night's babbling made my heart melt as I realized he was rattling off everyone's name in his family. Elmo Dada Mama Baby Chili Papa Gramma Elmo. I have a feeling Gavin will rank up there higher than Elmo very soon.
