See Tyler Grow

On our drive to the new daycare, we pass Sacramento's big water tower, on top of which sits a big flag. So, we're learning to salute the flag by placing our hand over our heart, and say the Pledge of Allegiance. It's a nice distraction to any sort of a rough start to our morning, and the kids love to learn the new words. Tyler's version is so sweet:
I pledge a lean sense
to the Flag
of the unined snates of America
and to the epubublic
for which stands
one nation under God
indibisable
with liberty and just all

Tyler is becoming more and more inquisitive and some of his questions are just downright funny. Yesterday evening, two firetrucks and an ambulance parked right in front of our house. They were next door--not one to be a nosy neighbor, I have no idea why yet. But, I saw this and then told the boys to come to the front door to look out the window. They marched over and Tyler immediately said "Who told those fire trucks to park there?"

The other day I was calling someone and Tyler asked me, "Who are you calling, Buzz Lightyear?"

Tyler is really getting into pretending. He was stoked to discover Mack has a stash of dress up clothes, hats, shoes and costumes under his bed, and he had to try every thing on. He also likes to pretend he is in charge and boss little Gavin around. Yesterday he had Gavin following him all over the house. They kept running past me this way and that. At one point, Tyler ran down the hall shouting to Gavin "Hurry up, flush the toilet. Hurry up!" and then I heard the toilet flusing so I had to inquire as to what the heck was going on. As Tyler ran past me, he informed me "We had to flush the toilet because there was a monster." Then Gavin runs after him saying "Toilet mama. Monster." Yep, they're on the same page but it's not one I could relate to.
